About Commercial Broker Guide
Who we are, what we cover, and how we check facts.
Last reviewed:
Commercial Broker Guide is a guide to commercial insurance for business owners. We explain what a business needs to insure, what coverage should cost, and what real claims look like, in plain English. We also keep a directory of independent commercial insurance brokers and agencies.
We are a publisher. We are not an insurance company, an agent or a broker, and we do not sell insurance.
What you will find here
- Stories and answers: what the published surveys and reports say about prices and claims, and what to ask before a renewal. Each story names its sources and the date we checked them.
- The directory: independent brokers and agencies by city and by specialty, with their public contact details and what their own clients say in public Google reviews.
- Get a quote: tell us what you run and our team passes your request to a licensed broker who works with your kind of business. It is free. Ask for a quote.
- The Brief: a short weekly email with insurance tips an owner can use. Get The Brief.
How we handle facts
We write from published sources: insurer reports, industry surveys, regulators and trade groups. If a number is on the site, the source and the date are next to it. We do not invent figures, and one average from one report is never presented as a prediction for your business. Read more in our editorial standards.
How brokers get listed
We build a firm's first profile from public information. Ratings and reviews shown on a profile come from the firm's public Google listing and are labelled that way. A firm can claim its profile for free and add what it covers, where it is licensed and which insurance companies it places with. A person on our team reviews every change before it appears.
Being listed is not a recommendation, and nobody can buy a better position in the directory or a favorable story. Sponsors are always labelled as sponsors.
