Editorial standards
How we report, source, and verify the news we publish.
Last reviewed:
These are the rules we hold ourselves to. If we break one, tell us and we will fix it in the open.
Sources
Every figure and every factual claim about prices, claims or the insurance market comes from a source we can point to: an insurer's published report, an industry survey, a regulator, a trade group or established trade press. Each story lists its sources and the date we checked them.
Rates and rules change. An average from one report describes that report, not your business, and we say so.
Not advice
Our stories are general information, not insurance, legal or financial advice. We are not an insurance company, an agent or a broker. Your policy and your licensed broker decide what you are covered for.
Broker profiles
A firm's first profile is written by our team from public information. Ratings and reviews come from the firm's public Google listing and are labelled that way. A firm can claim its profile and add details in its own words. A person on our team reviews every change before it goes live. Being listed is not a recommendation.
Advertising and independence
Sponsors and paid placements are always labelled. A sponsor cannot buy a story, a better place in the directory, or a change to what we wrote. If a link or a referral ever earns us money, the page will say so.
How we use AI
We use AI tools to help research, draft and check our work. A person reviews what we publish and is responsible for it. AI tools can be wrong, which is why every fact needs a source we can point to.
Corrections
We fix errors quickly and note meaningful fixes on the page. See our corrections policy.
