Discovery checklist: full-service restaurant with beer and wine, catering Purpose: new prospect | Meeting length: 45 minutes This is a conversation checklist, not a coverage recommendation. TOP QUESTIONS 1. Can I see the insurance section of your lease? 2. Is the catering van on a business auto policy, and do staff use their own cars for drop-offs? 3. Does your package policy include liquor liability, or is that separate? 4. When you cater, do venues ask for a certificate or to be added to your policy? 5. How do you take payments and online orders? LAYER 4: WHAT THEY DRIVE Hired and non-owned auto | Staff in own cars | Ask: Who drives for the business, and how often? (Agency, business and numbers are made up for illustration.)
Before you paste anything in
Use only an AI tool your agency has approved, and remove client personal details (Social Security and driver's license numbers, dates of birth, bank details, medical details from claims) before you paste anything in. The skill drafts; a licensed agent checks it against the actual documents before a client sees it.

Does this tell me what coverage to recommend?
No. It builds the conversation: what to ask, why it matters and what to read. You make the recommendation after you hear the answers and read the actual forms.
Will it tell me my state's workers' comp or auto rules?
No. Anything that depends on the state is marked to confirm with your state's workers' compensation agency (for workers' comp), your state's insurance department or your agent, because rules and thresholds vary and change.
Can my whole agency use the same checklist?
Yes. Run it once per industry, save the result as your agency's template, and adjust the top questions for each account.
